있는 달성은 경주 월성과 함께 삼국시대 고대 성곽을 보여주는 중요한 유적으로 꼽힌다.달성은 그간 토성으로 알려져 있었으나 이번 조사 결과 흙과 돌을 섞은 ‘토석혼축’과 석축 기법을 혼용해 쌓은 성곽으로 확인됐다. 이와 함께 밀림을 방지하고 하중을 분산하는 공법을 적용한 흔적이 발견되는 등 당시로서는 선진 토목 기술을 사용했다는 게 대구시 관계자의 설명이다.
